My Process
You’ve completed your short story, essay, or full length manuscript—congratulations! You know that you need another set of eyes on your work before you begin submitting it. I can help with both proofreading and copyediting.
For longer form work (over 15,000 words), I request prospective clients submit a ten-page sample so I can evaluate the scope of the project. This allows me to determine whether we are a good fit and gives me a sense of the amount of time and work I will need to put into your manuscript, which helps me determine the project timeline and cost.
Once I have your payment and complete draft, I will take two passes over it before returning it to you. I use the suggestions feature and comments because all edits are, of course, suggestions and it is up to you, the writer, to determine what your final product looks like.
A thorough edit polishes your project and helps it become the best version it can be, but does not guarantee whether or not it will be accepted for publication.
